Prof JV du Plessis (Voet) is a Professor Emeritus, Faculty of Law at the University of the Free State specialising in Labour Law and Retirement Fund Law. He has published several articles in scientific journals and is also co-author of the book “A Practical Guide to Labour Law” (10^th edition published 2025) He is an Advocate of the Supreme Court of South Africa and served as a board member of several Pension and Provident Funds. He still is the Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of the Pension Fund of the University of the Free State. He is a long-serving Board member of IRFA, having served as President in 1990. He is also an Honorary Member and currently serves on the Legal and Technical Committee of the Institute.
